Abstract
In the Republic of Moldova the productivity of agricultural crops is mainly determined by the pedological and climatic conditions. The climate is temperate - continental, with mild and short winter, the summer is hot and long, and the territory is regularly affected by some climatic hazards, such as prolonged droughts. During the vegetation period of the plants, especially in the months of June- ugust, really every year there are soil and air droughts. In the north of the country, a strong drought occurs once in 10 years, in the center - 2-3 times, and in the south - 3-4 times in the same time period. The humidity deficit leads to the reduction of the production capacity of soils and crops, to the diminution or even the total deterioration of the crops. Under such climatic conditions, irrigation is an efficient measure of optimization of soil water regime and crop plants.
