Abstract

In this publication are presented the results of field investigations referring to the embryonic and larval development of the common newt. The research was carried out in the aquatic reproduction basins of the species from the forest and meadow ecosystems of the “Codry” Reservation. The collected material was further analyzed in order to establish the ontogenetic stages characteristic of the species and the growth and development rhythm. Based on the data obtained, the diagnostic table of the embryonic and larval stages of the common newt has been developed for the first time, which has an undeniable practice for ecological research.
