Abstract

This scientific paper reflects a detailed study of the reproduction and nuptial behavior of
amphibian females of the Pelohylax esculenta complex (Pelohylax ridibundus, Pelohylax. lessonae,
Pelohylax esculentus) from the natural and anthropized ecosystems in the Center Area of the Republic of Moldova. This study has been finalized with the elucidation of very important biological and ecological particularities, regarding to the pace of arrival of the females in the breeding stations and their participation in the mating and ovopositation process. These particularities features of females represent, in fact, an indispensable component of a more ample original ecological and ethological mechanism, what was formed during evolution in the order to ensure a high level of reproductive success, at the same time, to solution some conflictual aspects that arise as a result of the interspecific competition of amphibians for breeding stations.
