Abstract
This article reflects the most significant taxonomies of formal and non-formal education presented by researchers in the literature. We aimed to highlight a diversity of opinions on the classification of formal and non-formal activities, due to the growing role of non-formal education at international level. The numerous taxonomies presented in the scientific literature provide evidence that in parallel with the lesson which constitutes the main form of the formal education, other activities with important informative and formative influences can be used, having a positive impact on the formation and development of the pupil personality.
