Abstract
It is argued the need to develop new pedagogical models for preparing gifted and extra-gifted students for national and international competitions in Informatics. The models in question have to be based on a common structure and be oriented towards the development of an extended set of competences specific to Informatics and Mathematics, competences which cannot be found in the national curriculum. The teaching strategies will be based mainly on simultaneous teaching, self-learning and the creation of simulated competition environments.
