Abstract
Algae serve as biological indicators, becoming mandatory components in assessing the state of an aquatic ecosystems, including assessing their saprobity and trophicity. As a result of the metabolic processes, they eliminate in the environment a series of substances, which can influence the growth and development of plants. Under laboratory conditions, some species of algae collected from the Lake „La Izvor” were subjected to cultivation. The algal extract obtained from the species Scenedesmus spinosus and Zygnema sp. contains a greater quantity of biologically active substances, which have stimulated the growth of wheat plantlets, especially at advanced ontogenetic stages of development.
