Abstract
Within algal communities, act a number of both biotic and abiotic factors. The individuals of a population, through the elaboration of various biological substances, act beneficially or harmfully towords the individuals of other populations of algae. In the sealgal communities there can be observed a coexistence of different species of algae from the same or different phyla together with bacteria, fungi, higher plants and invertebrates. Such relationships can be both beneficial and harmful for the organisms community.Under certain conditions some species of the genera Anabaena, Aphanizomenon, Oscillatoria, Microcystis, Euglena, Chlamydomonas can cause the phenomenon of water"blooming".
