Abstract
The article discusses the problem of developing diligence in primary school children. The theoretical aspects of the concepts of ‘work’ and ‘diligence’ are considered. The structural components of diligence in primary school children were identified: motivational-value, cognitive-knowledge and activity-transforming. A diagnostic complex was also developed to identify the levels of development of diligence in primary school children. The aim of the formative experiment was to foster diligence in children from new positions that ensure the formation of subjectivity, activity, and independence. The practical significance of the research is determined by the fact that the author has developed and implemented in primary school practice an extracurricular program called ‘The ABCs of Diligence’ for fostering diligence, designed for four years (from grades 1 to 4). The results of the experimental work allowed us to conclude that the hypothetical propositions were proven and confirmed, and the goal of the study was achieved.
