Abstract
Teachers philologists have an essential role in formatting and developing competences for
lifelong learning and have the primary responsibility for training about one third of these skills. Digital
competence is a part of professional skills of the philologists teaching staff and should help it to improve
the teaching-learning process for students. The article highlights the roles mentioned, the elements of digital
competence for teachers philologists and the challenges related to the ways in which this competence is
formed and developed
