Abstract
The paper examines the trends related to the study of real sciences in the pre-university system. The structural changes produced in 2018 are identified regarding the profile of the candidates registered to support the BAC. The causes regarding the significant increase of the number of representatives from the humanistic profile compared to the representatives of the real profile are being investigated. The trends regarding the preferences of students enrolled in the first cycle according to the 10 fundamental areas are highlighted. The opinions of the teachers regarding the teaching process in the field of real sciences and nature are presented.
